Claire M. Schmidt is an associate in the Firm's Santa Ana office and is a member of the firm’s class action and business litigation departments.

Ms. Schmidt areas of practice consist of a wide range of business and civil litigation matters with an emphasis on complex and class actions at both the trial and appellate levels.  Since joining AlvaradoSmith, Ms. Schmidt has represented a wide range of companies and individuals in various matters involving contract disputes, business and intentional torts, employment and real property disputes. Ms. Schmidt practices in both state and federal courts.

In addition, Ms. Schmidt provides counsel to energy companies on the acquisition and divestiture of oil and gas properties, including the preparation and analysis of purchase and sale agreements, operating agreements, assignments, and other oil and gas instruments. Ms. Schmidt also advises overseas companies on doing business in the US, including the start-up of business operations. 

Prior to joining AlvaradoSmith, Ms. Schmidt also worked in France and Germany as a general counsel in the area of employment law, distribution, and contract law.  Due to her background and day to day contacts in Europe, Ms. Schmidt is active in developing and maintaining an extensive network of contacts with local counsel throughout Europe.  Ms. Schmidt is fluent in French and German.
